BENEFITING: American Red Cross
A few years ago, after watching a hurricane decimate the island of Haiti and leave a path of destruction in its wake - I was moved to text a $10 contribution to the Red Cross. I felt pretty good about it, and went about my day. I had after all, made a difference in my own small way.
This year, I watched out of my living room window as Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the coast of NJ and New York. And in the days following, I watched on TV as people struggled to come to grips with what just happened to their lives.
I'm fine. My family is fine. My house was untouched. A few fallen leaves to rake this weekend.
But, thousands less fortunate than I have been uprooted from their homes, or their homes uprooted from them. Hundreds of thousands still don't have power, and won't for days to come.
And while I could again text my $10 to the Red Cross and go about my day, I began to think about how much more the Red Cross could do if I got 10 of my friends to donate the same, or 20, or 100.
So I asked some friends what they thought, and if they would help. They said, "of course we'll help"... and so here we are.
We're not asking for you to make a large donation, but if you can make a little one and pass it on, together we can make a big difference. A little means a lot.
Will you take 5 to donate $10?
