Allen Toles fight for mobility
Organized by: Brooke Hurring
Allen Toles found himself in a wreck in 1993 and has not been able to use his legs since. Today, in the blazing heat, I came across Allen using all his might in a wheelchair trying to trek up a big hill on University Av. in Oxford, MS. He had a bucket and a scrub brush and had just finished detailing someone’s vehicle. After bringing him to where he stays, I realized he had traveled some 5+ miles in his wheelchair to detail that car, to make money and hopefully make ends meet. I had the absolute honor and pleasure to spend a few hours with Allen today and he has a beautiful heart. Allen makes money by word of mouth detailing cars and even gardening as well. He told me he enjoys gardening and anything to do with cars and mechanics. While visiting today, Allen mentioned an availability of a car at the Cannon dealership in Oxford and he is trying to save up $500 as half of a down payment to give the dealership in hopes of eventually getting this car. This vehicle costs $6000 in total and I know this is an amount that we as a community can raise to bless precious Allen Toles. After spending time with him my heart broke at the condition of his wheelchair and even the shoes on his feet. Allen does not have much. I have an ambitious goal of $10,000 posted here because I would love nothing more than for us to be able to provide Allen with a brand new wheelchair and a vehicle to attain mobility and further make income possible. Allen does not let his disability stop him from working hard everyday to try to make ends meet. I feel nothing but blessed to have met and spent time with this man today and I’m thankful for a new friend. Allen Toles is an inspiring soul. Any donation would be a blessing. Thank you so much and please share this post as many times as needed to make this happen for Allen! God bless.
