BENEFITING: ALLIED SERVICES FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: ALLIED SERVICES FOUNDATION
I'm proud to be running the TCS NYC Marathon to help children and adults with disabilities in NE and Central Pennsylvania served by Allied Services. Any size donation will help. Donate $30 in my honor and you'll be eligible to receive a cool moisture-wicking WNEP's Ryan's Run exercise shirt.
My name is Amy Piasecki and I reside in Clarks Summit with my husband Chris and our two daughters, Olivia and Maeve. I am a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in nursing. For the past twenty years I have worked as a Registered Nurse in the hemodialysis setting.
As a nurse, I see the struggles that chronically ill patients endure. Completing simple tasks such as getting out of bed and getting dressed can be a huge obstacle for them. Many of my patients have utilized Allied Services and I have witnessed extraordinary outcomes. Allied Services has put smiles on faces that I never thought would smile again. I love seeing a patient's life changed for the better.
I am honored to be a part of the WNEP’s Ryan's Run 8 Team. In 2015, I was also given the opportunity to be a member of the Ryan's Run 6 Team. It was an experience that forever changed my life. I was profoundly touched by the passion and the commitment that Allied Services and the surrounding communities have in making the Ryan's Run campaign a success. The journey through this campaign means the world to me and I am so excited to experience it again. I will forever be dedicated to this cause and all it does to change the lives of individuals with disabilities.
I began running in January 2010 and immediately became hooked on the sport. I was working full time and had two small children. Life was crazy but I had a desire to exercise and get in shape. My sister-in-law introduced me to the running world and encouraged me to start out with small mileage and work my way up. Next thing I knew, I was signed up for my first 5K. Thus far I have completed in the Steamtown Marathon, Run for the Red Marathon, TCS New York City Marathon and various half marathons and 5K races.
One of the best benefits of running is the friends I have made. I have actually developed an extended family. My running family never allows me to get discouraged or down on myself. They push me to step out of my comfort zone and set new goals. We also run in all kinds of weather and will meet each other at crazy times just to get in a run. My husband and girls have been strong supporters of my running as well. They put up with my hectic training schedule and always let me know how proud they are of me. Seeing them at the finish is so uplifting and rewarding. I am excited to start this journey with my WNEP’s Ryan's Run 8 Team. I know it will be an amazing experience and one that I will hold close to my heart.
