BENEFITING: ALLIED SERVICES FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: ALLIED SERVICES FOUNDATION
I'm proud to be running the TCS NYC Marathon to help children and adults with disabilities in NE and Central Pennsylvania served by Allied Services. Any size donation will help. Donate $30 in my honor and you'll be eligible to receive a cool moisture-wicking WNEP's Ryan's Run exercise shirt.
My name is Dannielle Ross. I started running in 2009 to get in shape and lose weight with the goal of running the race for the cure in honor of my grandmother who had beaten breast cancer twice. Running helped me to shed over 100 pounds. I was keeping up with running and doing 5k races and then in 2012 I ran my first half marathon. Since 2012 I have run 3 full marathon and numerous other ½ marathons. I currently am keeping up with my fitness goals by doing CrossFit and running.
I am running the New York City Marathon in order to give back to the community in honor of my brother who unexpectedly passed away from a stroke at the age of 39. We had run numerous races together including the Broad Street Run, Rock & Roll ½ Marathons & the Disney Marathon (his first marathon). The last conversation I had with him was convincing him to run the New York City Marathon and doing it through WNEP’s Ryan’s Run. This conversation unknowingly would be the last conversation I would have with my brother the night before he passed away. This year’s New York City Marathon will be held on the second anniversary of his passing.
I cannot think of a better way to honor my brother than running this marathon for Allied Services. I have friends and family who have benefited from the services that are offered at Allied Services. I look forward creating this relationship with Allied Services and learning more as to how their services enhance so many people’s lives in my community. This is truly going to be a life changing experience.
