BENEFITING: PUBLIC ALLIES INC
Two years ago, I promised that if Public Allies achieved our fundraising goal I would for the first time do the Polar Bear swim on New Year's Day. On that day, the air temperature was about 18 degrees, winds 40 mph, and windchill -10 and after my Mom told me I would be a chicken if I did not go in, I ran about 30 yards into the shallow lake up to my waist. It was freezing but many people (none who went into the lake that day) have teased me since that I did not go all in. You can see the video of the first attempt below.
Well, this year I'll go all in, but I need you to go all in with me.
If Public Allies raises over $50,000 in our year end campaign, I will go into the lake, regardless of tempearture, and dunk myself all the way in. Do I want to do this? No, I'm not a water person and I hate the cold, but if it will help motivate giving, I'm all in.
If you want to help raise money toward the goal, join my team.
This has been my most inspiring year ever at Public Allies. I visited almost every site meeting with Allies and alumni and sharing our "Everyone Leads" message with thousands of leaders and organizations. The young leaders in Public Allies want to invest their lives and careers in working for community and social change. Please invest in them. We need them!
