BENEFITING: Red Feather Development Group
On August 23rd, 2014 volunteers from around the nation began gathering on the Hopi Reservation to build a home for the Sekayumptewa family. Hubert Sekayumptewa has worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 27 years, and he and his family currently live in rented government employee housing. But, when Mr. Sekayumptewa retires within the next year, the Sekayumptewa family (including his wife, daughter, and two grandchildren) will not have a place to live. Over the course of 7 weeks, the Red Feather team and our dedicated tribal and non-tribal volunteers will build an affordable, energy-efficient straw bale home for the Sekayumptewa family.
