BENEFITING: The ALS Association
I need motivation to run. Pushing myself out the door is not easy but if I schedule an event, I know I better prepare. The Detroit Marathon sponsored by Free Press & Talmer Bank provides the opportunity to run as much as some would like. I choose not to run 26+ mile "full marathon" however I was conned into participating initially in the 13+ Mile event by a good (I thought) friend Mark Lindauer! He comes from a marathon family. His wife Kim runs 26 miles just for fun and God Bless them both but I need to rescind my overzealous initial offer and go with the realistic shorter path on Saturday. Also unlike my good friend Theodore "Mercury" Taggart, anything more than a 4 miles seems insurmountable. For me I am good for a 5k. With that said If my Crowdfund hits $500 or more, I will run the 10k. By the way; I don’t think Bill Gates could contribute enough for me to run more than a 10K but if you like to tempt me, I have been swayed before. My Beautiful wife Milena sways me into all kinds of things I didn’t want to do! To further my motivation a worthy cause will help and I will run for ALS research also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This quiet disease erodes the nervous system slowly taking away the ability to walk, talk and eventually breath. The disease took Janice Goldi my mom’s life. She is inspiration enough to run around the world however (and sorry Mom) 5 or MAYBE a 10k might be all I have in me. I know she will be with me on the run, nudge me along. To my Facebook friends and family contribute what you can. A $1.00 would mean a lot to me. If I survive this one, I might sign-up for the next year. There are unfortunately many worthy causes and good reasons to run. By the way, if you come to the Marathon, please bring oxygen! Thanks!
