Fall Marathons For Pauly.

G'day: I'm running the Chicago and New York City Marathons in memory of my brother Paul. We lost Paul in 2010 at the age of 44 to ALS. We miss  See more

THE STORY:

It has been just over 8 years since I lost my brother Paul to ALS. Diagnosed in May 2009, Paul left us in June 2010 after what could be considered a short battle with ALS when compared to other similar courageous stories. During that time he demonstrated great courage, determination and an unceasing sense of humor that inspired, supported and comforted all those who knew and loved him through what was a difficult time. Paul was 44, when he died and left us with three wonderful children and now four grand-children. Paul loved all kinds of sports, played many, and always enjoyed a challenge. It is this memory of him that inspired me to run my first New York City Marathon with Team ALS in 2010. Running in his memory to raise awareness and funds to support research for others feels like the right thing to do. I have begun my training for this year's marathons and will continue, driven by the support and encouragement received by family and friends. I recall some of the tougher training days in past years and it is the thought of your support and confidence in me to honor my brother that provides the motivation and inspiration to continue through until the finish-line. Your support and encouragement motivate me to do this for the many other individuals and families that are living with ALS too. My plan is to run both the Chicago and NYC Marathon's this year.
