My friend Damon was a lead country singer and guitar player in a band for many years. ALS(Lou Gehrig's disease) has taken a lot of strength from Damon's hands and so playing guitar is more difficult these days yet he still performs. Gigs these days are often for the elderly at retirement homes and he plays Country Gospel with me at the City Mission near where we live. I tease Damon that he "sings everything he says" like Japeth the Goat in the movie Hoodwinked. He was born to play and sing country music. This fundraiser has the goal of completely blowing Damon's mind with a surprise gift of a new higher end Nashville level Takamine guitar set with a very low custom action to make his playing easier as he blesses those he plays for. We are going to present him with this awesome guitar at a public ceremony. We are also honoring Damon for victoriously staying sober and for using his gifts to bless others who often can't pay him for sharing his very special talent . The guitar tech who will be setting up this special instrument has experience with this type of set up as he himself plays guitar with Parkinson's disease. Join our community and celebrate this special gift and help us write a great story here! As Damon's friend and the other half of his duet, I cannot think of a better way to delight him. He will be so excited!!
