BENEFITING: ALS Association Greater New York Chapter
ORGANIZER: ALS Association Greater New York Chapter
EVENT: NYC Half 2014
EVENT DATE: Mar 16, 2014
Two years ago my dear friends Lea and Rene Rausch lost their mother, Sheila, to a fatal disease called ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS leads to eventual death of the inflicted. As of now there is no cure.
Sheila was diagnosed in 2008 and lost her battle in less than 3 years. As a friend and daughter, I can’t imagine what it is like to lose your mother. It’s because of Lea, Rene and the entire Rauch family’s resilience, strength, and compassion that I have decided to run with the ALS New York Chapter in the 2014 NYC Half Marathon on March 16th. I am running my 4th half marathon in honor of Sheila and everyone else that has lived with or lost someone with this disease.
With your help, I know I will be able to raise the minimum of $1500 required for guaranteed entry into the race. Please share/forward this site to your friends and family. I will continue to keep you updated as we get closer to the race.
