ALS in Wonderland is raising money to provide CAREGIVER SUPPORT to one of our local ALS patients, Dale Bennett. Any financial support you can provide Dale and his wife Tami during this difficult time in their lives will be greatly appreciated!!
A NOTE FROM TAMI:
Dale is the most important person in my life and I want the best for him. I want nothing more than to stay home with him but the truth of the matter is I can't for many reasons. When he went on disability, we lost half of our income. We need my income and my insurance to cover medical expenses. Dale is at a point now where he cannot be home alone. ALS is a VERY debilitating disease - he can barley feed himself and he cannot stand up by himself or take care of himself in the bathroom. There are so many things that we as healthy people take for granted that Dale cannot do. Having a care giver will give me peace of mind that he is receiving the help and care he needs while I am at work. Hiring a caregiver is a big expense and we need financial help to get Dale the care he needs. I have turned to different programs, but there are no guarantees and paper work takes months.
ALS IN WONDERLAND:
ALS in Wonderland, based in Little Rock, Arkansas, was founded by Lara Blume after her father, Richard Blume, was diagnosed with ALS in 2009. Having a family member with ALS, Lara understands the day-to-day challenges of those living with ALS. Her goal, as well as that of the nonprofit, is to not only raise funds and awareness for ALS, but to help our PALS, their families and caregivers live as normal and as full of a life as possible.
