BENEFITING: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association
EVENT: Run Long Beach 2013
EVENT DATE: Oct 13, 2013
On October 13th I will be running the Long Beach International City Bank Half Marathon to raise money for The ALS Association - Orange County Chapter. This will be my third and final half marathon in the Beach Cities Challenge, and I will be especially motivated by the excitement of knowing that it will benefit such a worthy cause.
I am asking friends and family to consider sponsoring me for this event. My goal is to raise $2,000 for The ALS Association - Orange County Chapter. I would greatly appreciate your kind consideration by making a donation toward this goal. All donations are, of course, tax deductible.
As some of you know, this is a personal cause for me. Last April my mom’s cousin Peter Hertel lost his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Peter was preceded in passing from ALS by his brother, Joe, his father, his great aunt and his paternal grandmother. ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, affects people in many different ways and affects many more people than you might imagine. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that usually attacks both upper and lower motor neurons and causes degeneration throughout the brain and spinal cord. Currently, there is no cure for this perplexing disease, which is why your help and support mean so much. One day we will have this beat, but until then please join me in supporting this very important cause.
