BENEFITING: The ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2017
EVENT DATE: May 07, 2017
In November 2015, my best friend’s dad received the diagnosed of ALS; and in August 2016, he lost his battle to this horrible disease. I have witnessed the rollercoaster ride of emotions that my friend has experienced, but nothing comes close to the pain I see in her eyes now that he is gone. While ALS may have ripped someone she loves dearly out of her life forever, she perseveres every day to be a light for others and passionately serves as an advocate in finding a cure. Being the avid runner that she is, she has asked me to join her in running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon this May to raise money for finding a cure. Her hope is that no one else has to endure the pain and suffering that her and her family has had to endure. It’s my honor to run for such a great cause and be there to support my friend. I ask for many prayers and positive energy as I begin my training, as this is my first EVER half-marathon!!
