BENEFITING: The ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2017
EVENT DATE: May 07, 2017
I run for ALS. In 2003, my grandpa -- Bob Haverman -- died of this progressive nurodegenerative disease. Twelve years later, my best friend's mom -- Sandy Schmidt -- lost the same battle. It is an understantement to say this disease has affected my life and the people most important to me. It has also fueled my motivation to live an active and adventurous life -- and when possible, put my adventures to good use.
Please consider making a donation to support the ALS Association, regardless of how much, every bit counts. And in return, I will run 26 miles and 385 yards around the city of Pittsburgh to say thank you, and to celebrate Bob and Sandy!
The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit health organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS. ALSA covers all the bases — research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy — in providing help and hope to those facing the disease.
The ALS Association National Office and the Western Pennsylvania Chapter operates under a shared mission: To lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through global, cutting-edge research, and to empower people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
