I am running the NYC Half Marathon on March 18th and I would like to raise funds for ALS Research. As you may know, ALS is a devastating disease that has affected my father, Igor Azarov. We first received the diagnosis in August 2011 and since then, ALS has rapidly affected every part of my family’s life.
I am running not just for my father, but for all the patients and families affected by this terrible illness. I am running to contribute to the advancement of ALS Research so that better treatments can be developed, and so that a cure can be found. One hundred percent of any and all donations I receive will be given to the ALS Association of NY, a society that has helped my family with referrals, equipment, and programs over the last 8 months.
ALS affects approximately 5 out of every 100,000 people worldwide.
If you can, please donate to this cause. The ALS Association has committed more than $67 million to find effective treatments and a cure. Their global research effort has helped increase the number of scientists working on ALS, advanced new discoveries and treatments, and has shed light on the complex genetic and environmental factors involved in ALS. We are getting closer to a cure. Your generous donation can make a world of difference.
Even if you decide not to donate, please take a second to sign this petition to help make Phase 2 drugs showing safety and efficacy, be made available to people suffering from ALS.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
