BENEFITING: EMPOWERED BY LIGHT FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Mar 08, 2016
2016 is shaping up to be a great year for work, purpose, and incredible climate change - solar projects that I'm proud to be a part of through my work as the Executive Director of Empowered By Light (EBL).
This weekend, I'll be with one of my other favorite communities, PacWest Athletics for an adult triathlon training camp. I'm sure I'll be having flashbacks to college soccer training camp twenty years ago.. The suffering, the joy, of 2-3 workouts a day (likely in the rain)!
Back to my impending solar return. I am good on stuff.I think most of my friends and family know I'm happiest when I'm in service, and working on my birthday/birth-month/solar-return. You also may know I love taking photos, and sharing stories that connect us around the planet. This year, I'm fortunate to be able to be in the Navajo Nation, scoping solar projects with colleagues, on my actual birthday (March 8th, aka International Women's Day). This month, I'm also working on our incredible projects in Zambia, the Congo, Brazil, Nepal, and Kenya. And, yes, I will be offsetting my carbon in more ways than one. I'll be headed to the Congo for our projects in Virunga National Park in the Congo later in March, and will be headed to Brazil for our projects in the Amazon with UNDP shortly thereafter.
If you're so inclined, join me, and contribute what you like. I'll take you with me! I'll share stories in person (to the best of my abilities, particularly for SF Bay Area friends), or via photos in the coming months. If you make a contribution over $50, I'll offer you image selections that I'll print.
In the images section in the campaign, I included a photo I took on a recent trip (Monkey Contemplates Climate Change and Rebuilding With Sun in Nepal -- part of of an earthquake response campaign I led), and photos from a trip to the Amazon in Brazil for a global energy education campaign we were launching when I was at SunPower in 2010.
In 2016, EBL is fortunate to have the support of a great partner that will enable us to create a new education campaign, including virtual reality footage, and doc filmmaker quality story-telling. In the meantime, I'll offer you what I capture from my amateur lens through this campaign. Regardless of the photos, your support goes a long way in helping us in our mission to improve lives and the environment through renewable energy technologies. Thank you!
