EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I'm thrilled to have been chosen for the 2015 Run to End Alzheimer's Boston Marathon team. On April 20th, 2015, I will be running the 119th Boston Marathon - also my very first marathon - in memory of my Grandpa who passed away in 2002 and in honor of my Nana for her years as a caregiver.
Growing up, Nana and Grandpa, my mother's parents, were daily figures in my and my brother's lives. Whether it be help with homework, day trips in the summer, or playing games after dinner - in nearly every one of my childhood memories, they play a large part. It was Grandpa that helped us learn addition facts by teaching us how to play "21" with milk caps - what I would later learn to be blackjack. He always had a quick wit, twinkle in his blue eyes, and a hard candy in his pocket.
Throughout his long battle, this terrible disease gradually took away a man who had been a rock through my childhood. I have committed to raise $10,000 to support Alzheimer's research and support programs for the more than 5 million people in the US living with this horrible disease and their 15.5 million caregivers. For this, I ask your financial support to help me reach this goal. Thank you for your support!
