BENEFITING: ALZHEIMERS ASSOCIATION
ORGANIZER: ALZHEIMERS ASSOCIATION
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I am proud to be a member of the "Run to End Alzheimer's - Boston 2015" team! AND to be running in the 119th Boston Marathon® on April 20, 2015 on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association of MA/NH Chapter, an organization that has provided support for me and my family, as well as many others.
Alzheimer’s seemed to sneak up on our family because we were in denial for a long time. It’s hard to wrap your head and your heart around the fact that your mother is here but she really isn’t. It is overwhelming. When my friend Bernice introduced me to the Alzheimer’s Association and the resources they provide for the entire family, things became more manageable. It was a difficult time but everyone at the Association understood everything we were experiencing. At the time, we thought we were the only family going through challenges and didn’t know where to start to care for my mother. The Association seemed to have a solution for every situation – except for the cure. In 2013, Alzheimer’s cost the US over $203 billion and is expected to rise to $1.2 trillion in 2050. We need to find a cure and to continue to increase awareness and educate the world about Alzheimer’s so that millions of people are not living with the perceived stigma of the disease. Please join me by making a donation on my behalf to the Alzheimer’s Association. Thank you for your support!
