Running around Manhattan
October 18, 2017
BENEFITING: ALZHEIMERS DRUG DISCOVERY FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: ALZHEIMERS DRUG DISCOVERY FOUNDATION
This will be my first ever Marathon, which on it's own is pretty exciting. More importantly though I'll be running and raising money in honor of my dad and grandmother, both of whom suffer(ed) from Alzheimers.
Watching family members and loved ones lose their personality and lives to Alzheimers is painful to say the least. Over the last 6 or 7 years facing my dad's decline and watching my grandmother go through the same thing has been heartwrenching. Help me make a difference that can benefit all of us by supporting the ADDF in their goal of funding Alzheimers treatment research
I'm extremely excited at the chance to run the Marathon and honored to be helping a cause that is near and dear to my heart.
My goal is 3k by October 27th. Anything and everything goes a long way!!
If you have family or friends suffering from Alzheimers or Dementia I'd also suggest watching the documentary Alive Inside (trigger warning - you'll probably cry). Music has helped me stay connected to my dad and I think it's power to help Alzheimers patients live in a 'happier state' is incredible. Check it out!

The ADDF is proud to be an official charity partner for the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. Donations to our team, Runners for Alzheimer's Research, directly support research into new treatments for this devastating disease. In 2016, our eighteen team members raised over $100,000, far surpassing their goal.
Though we are making great strides, Alzheimer's remains the only top 10 cause of death in the U.S. that can't be prevented, cured or even slowed. By supporting drug discovery research, our marathon team will help conquer Alzheimer's!

Founded in 1998 by co-chairmen Leonard A. and Ronald S. Lauder, the ADDF provides funding to leading scientists who are conducting the most promising, innovative Alzheimer’s drug research worldwide. The mission of the ADDF is to rapidly accelerate the discovery of drugs to prevent, treat and cure Alzheimer's disease.
