BENEFITING: Alzheimer's Association
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
$25,916.00. That is the goal I have set for this year. $1 more than I raised last year.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and scroll through the photos of my inspiration for running the Boston Marathon for the past 2 years and doing the Nantucket Triathlon the year before while raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association. Completing 2 Boston Marathons in 2 years at 47 & 48 years old was pretty challenging. Not only does it test you physically, but it challenges you even more mentally. Aside from a Cancer diagnosis at age 27, this is probably one of the hardest things I have ever been through in my life.
Training for a marathon is probably much easier than what someone goes through when they are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. It’s much easier than having to care for someone with Alzheimer’s. The woman in this photo is the reason I got involved with the Association and started raising money instantly. She is a wonderful woman with an incredible family. I am also raising money for every teammate of mine over the past three years who have or have had family members with Alzheimer's. And for all the other people I have met while speaking about the disease...this is for you as well.
Although I am not running the marathon in 2017, I have the pleasure of Co-Coaching this incredible team of Athletes this year so that they can realize the dream of training for and finishing the Boston Marathon in 2017 and raising an incredible amount of money to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease. As you probably remember, I set my goals pretty high the last two years and exceeded them. I am someone who does not like to fail. I am setting my goal at $25,916 for this year. Yes it’s high. But it’s nothing compared to what we need to raise to find a cure. Please know that even though I won’t be crossing the finish line in April 2017, I will be donating my time to help these athletes cross the finish line. I will be out there with them every Saturday in the inclement weather (hopefully nothing like the winter of 2015). I will be raising awareness and help to get our team to that goal of $500K!
Please share my link. Please share my story. It means so much to me. This is a cause that I care about with all my heart. No amount is too small. Every little bit will get me closer to $30K!
I thank you in advance for your donation!

The Alzheimer's Association MA/NH Chapter is proud to announce that members of our "Run to End Alzheimer's - Boston 2017" team are running in the 121st Boston Marathon® on April 17, 2017. The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's most prestigious road racing events.
Alzheimer's disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, and affects millions of people daily. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. Currently, there is no cure. The first survivor of Alzheimer's is out there, but we won't get there without you.
In 2016 the RUN TRI RIDE to End Alzheimer's raised over $1.2 million to support programs and services for those impacted with the disease. The 2017 Boston Marathon team is determined to continue this tradition of success, as we celebrate our 16th year!
