EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
On Sunday, November 4th, I will be running the NYC marathon. The 40,000 + racers have been challenged to raise $26 million for various charities. I am asking for your support in the race against Alzheimer’s.
As many of you know, my mother has suffered now for several years. My mother grew up in Saint Louis directly across the street from Our Lady of Lourdes. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and Fontbonne University. Mom raised five children and adores 12 grandchildren. Much like many of the Immacolata mom’s I know, she was a doer. She volunteered at Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Clement, DeSmet and co-chaired SLUH’s auction. Once the kids left the nest, she expanded her volunteering to the Zoo, Art Museum and St John’s Hospital (and grandkid babysitting). She loved to read and write, and enjoyed the Muny, the Fox and travel. She laughed easily.
Today, from time to time, you can still catch a glimmer of who she was. She will occasionally laugh at a joke or sing a few words of an old song, but sadly rarely recognizes her own loved ones.
With your support, we will help quicken the pace for a cure.
Thank you and please forward to any individuals or groups who would support the cause.
