EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
This will be my first half marathon and a huge challenge to myself. However, this is not just for me, it is for the lives of many Americans who are affected by this disease.
I am particiapating in the Pittsburgh Half Marathon in support of those affected by Alzheimer's, not just the individuals themselves, but the families as well.
I am personally affected by this disease. My grandfather, R.T., suffers from Alzheimer's and it is diffulcult to watch. He is a great man! Once the Chief of Police, a Mayor of a small town, and was an advocate for Salvation Army. He is still a funny and energetic man, but the way his brain works is not the same. He slowly progresses in his disease and every moment with him is a precious one.
Many think that they cannot or will not be affected by Alzheimer's, but over 5 million Americans have this disease.
My grandfathers brain might not be up to par (so to speak), but by helping me reach my goal of $500 and raise awareness for Alzheimer's, we might be able to help save the brains and lives of many others.
We all have a reason to help or run...I Run for my grandfather R.T.
