My Wife Needs Your Help
Those of you who know my wife, Terry, know that she is a wonderful person: kind, compassionate, intelligent and generous. Recently she has had to start wearing a walking boot to heal a stress fracture in her foot. This has been frustrating for her because she’s a runner. She wants to run, but knows she has to let the fracture heal so that a minor issue doesn’t turn into a major issue.
As you also may remember, I will be running a half-marathon in the Pittsburgh Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer’s research. I am still a little short of my fundraising goal, so I’ve decided to try a new tactic. Maybe folks will contribute for Terry, if not for me.
So here’s my new proposal: contribute to my fundraising efforts, or I will hide her boot somewhere she’ll never find it.
Now, we live in an old house, so there are literally dozens of places I could hide the boot that even a GPS tracker couldn’t find. Cold, dark places, like those that riddle my soul. There are a few places that I think might even open to another dimension entirely, if those tentacles are any indication.
So the next time you’re quietly eating lunch, or having a pleasant conversation with a friend, or peacefully nodding off to sleep, flash this image for a moment: Terry hobbling through our house in her tattered old robe, softly whimpering as she searches for Leon (her name for her boot; my God, people, she’s named her boot!), wondering if she’ll ever run again, or even walk again.
You can prevent this. Yes, you can. Click on the link below to contribute. If you can’t contribute, or already have, please forward this message to other friends and family who might be interested in this cause. As always, thanks for whatever help you can offer.
