EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
The Alzheimer's Association is a cause that is very close to my heart. I am a member of Sigma Kappa and I am also a granddaughter to an amazing woman who is affected by this disease everyday. As the years go by my grandma definitely does not remember as much as she used to but she never forgets how much she loves her family. I love seeing her laugh and smile - especially to see her dance - Though all the memories and other things that this disease has taken from her she remains positive and full of love. She is a constant reminder to find the positives in life, even when in uncontrollable circumstances. I am so thankful and motivated to have the opportunity to help out this organization again this year.
Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. It cannot be prevented, cured, or even slowed down. My heart goes out to all who are affected by this terrible disease whether you know someone who has passed from it, are supporting/caring for someone who currently has it, or know of someone who has family members or friends fighting it.
So with that being said, this is why I chose the Alzheimer's Association as the charity that I will be running for this May. Please help me meet my goal of fundraising $1,000.00 by the time the race comes around!
You can go to www.alz.org for more information on the disease.
