I have a potential donation opportunity I would like to share with you guys. Her name is Sarah [name changed] and she is a single mother of 6 kids. She was about to be homeless about 3 months ago when a friend and his family decided to help her situation. Another TCC family has paid for her rent for a full year to help he to get back on her feet. I have been helping her over the past few months with gas, clothes, food, mattresses, and more, and am convinced she's putting forth a great effort in sustaining herself and her family. She has been working very hard to provide for her own family, and has even started her own cleaning business to support herself. She's been coming to TCC ever since we started helping her and her family.
This new job requires her to drive a large amount and also requires dependability. Unfortunately, she's driving a very inefficient '96 Suburban, which takes almost $170 in gas at each fillup! She's struggling to cover her monthly bills, and she would love to get into a more efficient, dependable, and safer minivan.
I have told her that I would help her to find a good minivan for her, and I also told her I would help to pay for it. She has committed to selling her suburban which can probably bring in about $2500. If you feel like you are able, and would like to financially contribute and/or help with finding her a van/selling her suburban, please let me know. Any little bit would help offset the costs. I'm working with church leadership on potential tax benefits at the moment, so I can let you know more on that possibility once he looks into it.
