BENEFITING: HABITAT FOR HUMANITY-REBUILD MICHIGAN
EVENT: Mighty Mac Swim 2016
EVENT DATE: Sep 05, 2016
I am excited to take on the challenge of swimming the Straits and raise money for Habitat for Humanity! Although I did swim in the 2000 Olympics and accomplished much in my swimming career, I have never desired to compete again (too many other endeavors to explore). However, I LOVE NORTHERN MICHIGAN! My husband’s family has a cabin on Mullett Lake and we spend 2-3 weeks up there every summer. I love the Mackinaw Bridge. The chance to swim alongside the bridge is just too big a pull. I have done the bridge walk a couple of times with my family and I look forward to the opportunity to swim across the Straits.
I work as a part-time swim coach at Denison University, and also coach an 8 & under age group team. Additionally, I co-founded the non-profit group, 100+ Women Who Care, Licking County. This group raises money and educates women on the needs of our county. The Mighty Mac swim incorporates what I am most passionate about, and I am excited for the opportunity to combine the swim with raising money for a worthy cause. Both are lofty aspirations, and I am nervous about completing the swim and reaching my donation goal. However, the swim will be completed exactly 3 months before my 40th birthday and I can think of no better way to celebrate!
Thank you for visiting my donation page, please help support me, the Mighty Mac Swim, and most importantly Habitat for Humanity of Michigan!
