BENEFITING: GLEASONS GIVE A KID A DREAM

Working for a nonprofit organization helping college bound students from disadvantaged backgrounds before during and after college, Amara relates to the Give A Kid a Dream Mission statement "Help us develop some really deserving kids!"
Currently residing in Brooklyn Amara grew up in Syracuse the relocated to North Carolina where she dedicated her life to children as a Math teacher working with students with special needs and individual challenges.
Amara was elated by her students’ receiving the highest scores on their Math state exams, ninety fifth percentile state-wide ranking, also her greatest accomplishment to date.
Her personal motto: “Success never comes with out really hard work. This philosophy has led to her personal success and positive impact on children.
Her heroes include her mother and grandmother whom she greatly admires..
During her college years in Boston, she experienced racism and sexism as an engineering student in a predominately homogeneous campus. She overcame this adversity and grew stronger from it.
She admires Michelle Obama for all that she does for others and feels giving back to others and charity is very important because everybody deserves a chance.
Amara currently resides in Brooklyn NY.
