Jalan + Social Media = Amazing Things
Organized by: Jalan Nored
EVENT DATE Jul 23, 2015
My name is Jalan Nored, I'm a college student from Cincinnati, OH, and I want to make amazing things. The last two years of my undergraduate career have been spent trying to find where I belong in an area of study. I've gone from History, to Sports Business, to my recent venture in Organizational Leadership, and I can tell you, until recently, I still didn't know what I wanted to do. I've spent 3 years of my young life searching for the thing I want to call my interest, my potential passion, and it was right underneath my nose this whole time (well more like fingers).
I've decided I wanted to pursue a path in social media; it's a very untamed field but I know I love doing it. To think someone would pay me to sit on Twitter all day...well not exactly, but you get the point. Recently I've taken on projects for my internship with the Muñoz Agency running social media as well as receiving job offers from a start-up and business that need help auditing where their brand stands on social media. I've taken strides lately to help learn and to grow my skills in engagement and content creation: from getting social media certifications through programs offered by Hootsuite and SO ME Academy, signing up on freelance sites like Upwork and Thumbtack and participating in opportunities to show what I can do out in the "real world", and even getting into the basics of content design like infographics, Facebook and Twitter headers, and much more.
Now this is where you guys come in! Most of the content on social media happens out and about, whether it be capturing that candid or viral moment to capturing something and developing it into something you can use to promote your interest. I have been doing just that with a phone alone. I know... pretty wild. I've used my iPhone for creating awesome content from posters, to photos and even videos (a video I made with my iPhone is in the gallery). These amazing things I have created have all been very cool but, I know if I want to continue getting better, my tools will have to be better. I'm looking to raise $450 dollars to purchase an iPhone 6+ Camera Kit. It comes with 58mm .45x wide lens, Vlog/Stabilizer Bar(13"), 160 LED Video Light with Bracket, Shotgun Microphone, 25' long extension cable and special mic adapter cable (http://www.hdhatstore.com/iHat6-Complete-Video-Kit-iPhone-6-Plus-Camera-Kit.html) ....all of that to help create amazing content for the networks I'm working on. I would be forever grateful for any and all help in acquiring this piece of equipment. I have finally found something I want to do and I hope you all aid me in getting one step closer to achieving what could become my future career. Who wouldn't want to help someone else succeed, right?
