America SCORES Chicago programs create a bridge between the school day and after-school hours, offering youth a safe place to challenge themselves physically, creatively and academically through the use of soccer, poetry and service learning. Each day of the week, SCORES students work together in a curricula-guided writing workshop, soccer training, or game day. The key to the SCORES program model is that it's holistic, team based and the core activities provide participants with well rounded experiences in a safe, nurturing environment.
- Soccer is a universal sport accessible to all youth regardless of background and physical characteristics.
- Poetry transcends culture and language and helps youth develop creative thinking, literacy and speaking skills.
- Service Learning helps children develop empathy, social responsibility, and a self confidence.
