BENEFITING: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
ORGANIZER: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is the nation's largest non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Last year, I was fortunate to be able to raise over $2000 for AFSP as a finisher in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. This year, I am raising the stakes. On November 5th, I will join thousands of runners in hopes of completing the NYC Marathon, and I will do so with a goal of raising $3000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
This year, like last year, I will run for Steven, my dear friend who we lost to suicide in April of 2015. Steven was a bright light to all he touched, and not a day goes by that I do not miss him or wish that he was still with us. While I can't bring Steven back, I can run in his honor and help bring awareness to what is tragically the 10th leading cause of death in the United States today. I will run for hope; I will run for love; I will run for all the minutes and hours and days and years that Steven is no longer here to smile or ride his bike, to cook or draw, or create or build.
I believe that together we can make a difference, and any support you are able to give is welcome and appreciated. Your donation will not only bring hope and healing to those lives who have been touched by suicide, but will also help fund education, prevention, and advocacy programs for those who are struggling with finding hope themselves. All donations are 100% tax deductible and will help bring AFSP one step closer to achieving their goal of reducing the suicide rate 20% by 2025.
Thank you for visiting my page. I will see you at the finish line!!
