While the destruction may seem far from home, many city workers have friends and family who have been severely impacted. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these victims by donating to the American Red Cross, a charity with a long history of ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most. We set a collective City worker goal to reach $5000 for the American Red Cross' Disaster Relief Fund.
As public servants in our community, we have a firm understanding of the efforts needed to regroup and rebuild in the wake of a natural disaster, like Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Harvey, the wildfires ravaging the west . In the case of disasters of this magnitude, there is an almost unending list of needs: Rebuilding homes, mold mitigation, road reconstruction, restoration of critical communication infrastructure, removal of storm debris, clean-up of environmental contaminants. This is small sample of of what must be done to recover from these deadly and life-altering disasters.
