All week, American Red Cross disaster teams have been mobilizing supplies and workers, and readying shelter locations in communities along the East Coast, from Florida to Virginia, in the path of the storm. On Tuesday night, more than 3,600 people in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina found a safe place to stay in 84 Red Cross and community partner relief shelters.
The Red Cross has more than 500 disaster workers and 90 response vehicles ready to help in the affected states and more help is standing by. We have also prepositioned more than 30 trailer loads of shelter supplies, ready-to-eat meals, clean-up and comfort kits. Disaster teams are closely monitoring the storm and working hand-in-hand with government officials and community partners to make sure people get the help they need, as quickly as possible.
Hurricane Matthew could potentially cause catastrophic deluge in the U.S. We need your support to continue helping people impacted by the storm. Donate to Hurricane Matthew today. Thank you.
