Friends & Family:
As many of you may know, I have spent the past couple of months training for this year's New York City Marathon as a great way to get settled back in NYC.
While I had initially envisioned raising funds for a great New York City based-charity called the Robin Hood Foundation, the recent events in Texas caused by Hurricane Harvey have had a profound impact on me.
Prior to returning to NYC, I had spent many years living in the great city of Houston where I met great friends and found a city that welcomed me with open arms. I will always hold Houston very close to my heart. It is difficult to have a direct impact from NYC, so I've tried to find a charity that is actively involved in the recovery/relief effort for Houston and its surroundings.
The American Red Cross does a lot of good work around the world and importantly is very much involved in Houston with many boots and resources on the ground.
I spoke with them today and asked if I could run this year's NYC marathon in their name with any funds that I raised going directly to the recovery efforts in Houston.
Importantly, I would very much appreciate any help or support you could provide to the American red Cross for the benefit of the Houston recovery effort.
The Houston community needs us in this time of need.
