I'm running in the tough mudder this year in honor of my mom. She had been battleing cancer for as long as I can remember. I remember when I was young my mom would be this vibrant energetic woman who was strong willed and ready for anything. I loved my mom very much. As time passed and I got older we noticed her health was declining, we went to the doctor and he told her that she had throat cancer and needed treatment fast. Well growing up we never had the means to be able to get whatever, my dad was the only one who worked and i was still in school so we really couldn't afford to have my mom get chemo or radiation that she needed, so my aunt called the doctor and paid for some treatments. However it became too expensive for her seeing as she had her own family to worry about. So after a few years of dealing with the cancer her health declined even more. She was unable to eat solid foods and all she could do was drink liquids like shakes and things. I tried to do as much for my mom as I could but as time went on I still had school and my freinds, my relationship with my mom was not as strong as it was. So one day after coming home from school and been working all week my mom asked me to do something for her, I got angry and told her NO. Well that infureated her and we argued. After a little while I stormed out of the house after saying some things I really wish I hadn't said. So off to my freinds house I went. Well after a few hours there was a knock on my friends door, It was the police, they had asked for me. Scared and confused that I had done something wrong I approached the officer and he sat me down and told me my mother had passed away. With my whole world crumbling around me I sat there and just cried. I never got to tell my mom i love you and even say goodbye. So I feel I owe it to my mom to raise as much money as I possibly can for The American Cancer Society. So please find it in your heart to help me help those in need who are dealing with cancer.
