BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
ORGANIZER: American Cancer Society
EVENT: Tough Mudder Pittsburgh 2017
I've always wanted to run a Tough Mudder, and this year I decided I was going to run no matter what! I started training for my area's 2017 Tough Mudder in December of last year. While browsing ticket purchasing options, I was presented with the opportunity to run for a cause and fund raise for a charity close to my heart.
I chose the American Cancer Society because my family is genetically prone to various cancers and it's a disease that's taken the lives of some of the most important people in my life. In 2006, my father lost his long and painful battle with brain and lung cancer. Two years later, in 2008, my grandfather lost his battle with brain and lymphomic cancer, and in 2013, pancreatic cancer took the life of my grandmother. Navigating my teenage years without some of the most important people in my life was difficult but it's given me the drive to fight for a cure. One of my truest friends continues to be an inspiration of strength and bravery as a thyroid cancer survivor.
In their honor, I pledged to raise $1,000 for the American Cancer Society. I will also be donating my $200 (the price of a Tough Mudder ticket) to this fundraiser for charity.
Here's how the ACS divides it's roughly $500MIL between it's programs:
* Research: 24.4%
* Patient Support: 42.2%
* Prevention Programs: 18.4%
* Detection and Treatment Programs: 15.0%
Thank you for supporting me and helping my reach my goals, with it's with a like, a share, or a monetary donation to the cause.
