EVENT: Tough Mudder Tri-State 2017
Torturing my body for a good cause seems to be a recurring theme of mine. I've spent endless amounts of time biking and raising money for multiple sclerosis in the past two years. This time, I wanted to do something a little different and for a cause that hits home a little more with me and, unfortunately, many other folks.
When I was in high school, I had a math teacher named Jan Morgan. She was an absolute inspiration to all of her students, including me. She taught us so much more than just Calculus. She taught us how to be proud of who we are and to be respectful to everyone. Ms. Morgan is my hero because she battled cancer multiple times and even in her final fight with cancer, she was never afraid. She knew what was to come and she told us that she had nothing to fear because she had God on her side.
That is what this race and all other physical trials I have been through are about. Battling against inevitable pain to be that inspiration for others. This world needs to see that people are willing to be brave in the face of trials and tribulations, especially if they are doing it for a charitable cause.
