THE STORY:

I’m reaching out to ask  you- a group of my best supporters to help show these kids we stand with them by raising money to help fight diabetes and continue research.Your donation will help support the search for a cure and improve care for people living with diabetes, as well as raise awareness.

Every 23 SECONDS someone is diagnosed with Diabetes;

  • 1.25M Americans are living with T1D including about 200,000 youth (less than 20 years old) and over a million adults. While insulin injections or infusion allow a person with T1D to stay alive, they do not cure the disease, nor do they necessarily prevent the possibility of the disease’s serious effects, which may include: kidney failure, blindness, nerve damage, heart attack, stroke, and pregnancy complications.

Like Type 1 Diabetic's- Type 2 have similar symptoms before diagnosis and initial treatment, however the major difference between the two is Type 2 still have a pancreas functioning at some level.

I'm sure anyone can imagine how as parents, we felt with the news that our son had a life long battle of Type 1 Diabetes; shocked, disbelieving and frightened about what the future holds in store for him.  Since that awful night 8 years ago it was a struggle; being embarrassed, rejecting the disease, having to take his lunch tray every day down the hall in Junior High School to the Nurse's Station so they could count carbs and give him his injection, at hime before bed not wanting to take insulin, hormone imbalances, pump bolus configurations. Today he's on a continuous blood glucose pump (CBG), which will alarm if his blood glucose levels drop too low which is a relief.  Our new chapter in life is he's off to College.

We need you to be a Sponsor for Team "Rolling Tide" in the Tough Mudder Race which is 10k and full of 22 obstacles!  It's on October 29th, 2016 in Pulaski, Tennessee at Milky Way Farms.  Spectators are welcome and can sign up on the site.

100% of your donation will be going directly to the American Diabetes Association. After you donate, if online, you will immediately receive an email with your donation amount for your taxes.  If you donate in person we will keep a Donation log and I will submit it by the race date and you will get your email in October.

Thank you,
