BENEFITING: AMERICAN LIVER FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: AMERICAN LIVER FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
In December of 2006, my father Eric passed away at the age of 56 after a long battle with liver disease. The strength and courage that he displayed during his fight against his disease inspired me to attempt to channel a fraction of his strength and do something very uncomfortable for me at the time - which was to begin running. I decided to enroll myself in the 2014 Brooklyn Half Marathon which after countless miles logged and 30 pounds lost as a result of the rigorous training, I am proud to say I crossed the finish line. After this race, I decided to continue fundraising and ultimately 2014 culminated with me crossing the finish line at the 2014 NYC Marathon. The outpouring of support I received from friends and family over the course of that journey, ranging from the incredibly generous contributions to my fundraising efforts to the non-stop encouragement, was humbling and truly overwhelming.
With that, I have decided once again to raise money for the American Liver Foundation and run the 2016 NYC Marathon. This year is particularly meaningful to me and my family as 2016 will mark the 10 year anniversary of the passing of my loving father Eric.
25 million Americans (1 in every 10) are or have been affected with liver disease. I am hopeful that the money I raise for this race can help with the research necessary to help families and/or friends with loved ones that are affected by liver disease get the treatment they require in order to live healthier and longer lives. If any of you would be willing to donate or just share with your friends, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart - your support means the world to me.
