THE STORY:
Hello, and welcome to my page! I am SO excited to be running and fundraising with Team AmeriCares, and I hope you enjoy following my journey as I prepare to run the NYC Marathon on November 6th, 2016!
For those of you that are not familiar with AmeriCares, it is a global health and disaster relief nonprofit - the world's largest distributer of "gift in kind" healthcare supplies and medicine. Since its founding in 1976, AmeriCares has provided billions of dollars of aid to 164 countries, supporting community partners when poverty, natural disaster, disease, or deadly conflict cause health crises.
I was lucky enough to be hired as an AmeriCares intern this summer, and I got to see firsthand the compassion, efficiency, and long-term commitment with which AmeriCares responded to disasters. Additionally, running a marathon is a personal goal of mine. I have been a runner for eight years and really love it (thanks to my awesome running parents and my lovely high school cross country team - go Hornets!), but I have always been nervous to make the jump to the marathon. 2016 is the year, and I am ready to take on this challenge!
