A mothers love/Jade Shutes Fundraiser
Organized by: Jade Shutes
Eric Grandstrom was the passenger in a car when it crashed in September,1999. He sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. First question was if Eric would live, then if he would remain comatose. Although unable to care for himself, half blind in both eyes and needing 24 hr care, Eric is happy and grateful to be alive! He's made considerable progress, in large part to pool therapy.
It took 12 years but Eric's mother, Diane, got him an in ground pool built in their back yard in 2011.
They wish to install a polycarbonate and aluminum pool enclosure (see pic)over Eric's pool so he can use his pool all year BECAUSE:
Every Summer Eric makes progress until the pool is closed, than progress rapidly subsides. By November all evidence of benefits from the pool are gone! Each Summer he starts all over again.
PLEASE HELP ERIC MOVE FORWARD IN RECOVERY instead of backwards every Winter

ALSO, THE POOL ENCLOSURE, will make it possible to use the pool more in Summer regardless of inclement weather as in past Summers, reduce the work that Diane has to care for the pool, freeing up her time. and will save money for pool costs, like chemicals and electric.

The idea for an Optimist Zone came out of my desperation to fend off the horrible predictions of the naysayers, many who wouldn't let up, in the early days after eric's accident. "Positive thoughts and words only. Miracles come to those who believe in the Optimist Zone". my sister Marceline designed the banner that still hangs over his bed today. Diane
