BENEFITING: Pulmonary Hypertension Association Inc
EVENT: PH in the Park 2016
EVENT DATE: Aug 28, 2016
It's that time of year again. I hit my 3 year mark in April. When I was diagnosed, Dr. Graham told me the median survival of PH was 3-7 years so this year held some special meaning. I'm still here! but realizing this disease does progress as promised. Since last year, I am now on oxygen almost 24/7 even at sea level and have added a 3rd medication for my PH. I am STILL PHighting for my life. I know that I am not a statistic and I want to be, and plan to be, around for a LONG time!! I want Sophie to know her mom was a FIGHTER!! This is part of my battle. As my friend Jennie says, "I'm proud to say we are learning to live with the disease, but I am hoping to one day live without it!"
I'm sorry for the late notice, but I wasn't sure if I could do it again this year. I think $1000 is an aggressive goal, but I know I have amazing people in my corner to help me fight this battle!! Your response last year was overwhelming! Thank you so much. Because of your donations, research continues. One of my new medications was just approved for use late last year! Research works! I hope next year to say that research has discovered a CURE!! That is our hope!
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12
Pulmonary hypertension is a rare, under-diagnosed, and often misdiagnosed disease. The disease causes high blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries, making it harder for the blood to flow through the lungs to pick up oxygen. When diagnosed in time, treatments can be administered that improve quality of life and may prolong it. At this time there is no cure; but we believe through research we will find the cure for PH.
We appreciate your willingness to help us raise money and awareness to fight this disease. On behalf of PH patients, family members, caregivers and friends, we thank you for your participation and support in this annual event.
