BENEFITING: RHODE ISLAND CANINE SEARCH AND RESCUE INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 14, 2012
When someone is lost...who will find them? As a parent of two small boys, it's one of my greatest fears. I'm running my first half-marathon this year to help those who find the missing. The Rhode Island Canine Search and Rescue (RICSAR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to locating missing persons and providing closure to the families and loved ones of the missing. An all- volunteer group of canine handlers and their search and rescue dogs, they are highly-trained to become professionally certified in search and rescue operations. When called upon by the Rhode Island State Police or other qualified agency, RISCAR is at the ready to provide its services during missing person searches, like if an elderly adult is missing, as well as in times of natural disasters, such as hurricanes and tornadoes.
RISCAR also participates in community safety programs, sharing wilderness safety tips and promoting programs such as the Identi-Kid Child Identification Program at local community events.
RICSAR will use these funds to increase the level of training for the team's volunteers and their search and rescue dogs, to provide greater service to the community. Please support me in my first half marathon by giving to this amazing organization...which also, supports my love of dogs too:)
