THE STORY:

We're fund-raising in order to travel to India with AnaGenesis, and complete projects within the social sector involving financial inclusion and clean energy. All donations over our $7,000 goal will be donated to a local charitable organization.

AnaGenesis has developed a fellowship program that identifies and prepares talented university students to complete on-site engagements with its partner organizations, which include key social enterprises throughout India. Upon the successful completion of each assignment, fellows will gather and compile data for Case Studies, Research Papers and Academic Articles for professors at AG partner universities, which will promote the Indian social sector, while providing international exposure for partner organizations.

Project: Business Development for AnaGenesis

Description:  During his time in India Nathan will be engaging potential partner organizations within the Indian Social Sector to partner with AnaGenesis for the Summer of 2012. This will develop his network development, as well as strategical negotioan skills, all the while creating novel opportunities for USA students to become engaged with the international Social Enterprise Space.

Organization: AnaGenesis

Project: Application Development for IFMR

Description:  Daniel will be working with The Institute of Financial Management and Research in Chennai, India to improve the current process for collecting information from clients. The new system will enable clients to engage in long term financial planning to better prepare for their future. In addition, he will be creating an android based application with the ability to better visualize client's financial information, while providing the loan officers access to gathered data while in remote areas.

Ivana Zecevic 

Organization: AnaGenesis

Project: Product Development for IFMR 

Description: Ivana will be working with The Institute of Financial Management and Research in Chennai, India to develop a weather insurance package for rural farmers. This financial product will be used to create an economic safety net during the dry season, therefore empowering entire communities.

Aditi Ghai

Organization: AnaGenesis

Project: Customer Profiling for W2W

Description: Aditi will be working with W2W in New Delhi area to prove the viability of the Enzi product in the emerging market of India. Project specifics involve in-depth market research, and engaging local organizations including hospitals, small businesses and NGOs that are currently suffering from the detrimental effects of power outages.

Juan Sebastian Rodriguez

Organization: AnaGenesis

Project: Operations Strategy for W2W

Description: Juan will be working with W2W in New Delhi to intiate parternships with organizations involved in manufacturing, logistics and distribution. Additionally, Juan will do extensive product analysis of Enzi involving pricing, features, and target markets. Overall, the end goal of operations strategy will to be to develop an on-site framework that can be applied for production of an Enzi prototype.

Shawn Wen

Organization: AnaGenesis

Project: Finance and Policy Strategy for W2W

Description: Shawn will be working with W2W in New Delhi to identify outlets for local financial assistance for W2W, as well as developing ties with the local government. This project will involve identifying the constraints and benefits of diversified financing options, while ensuring that all processes fall in line with the current local policy being instituted in the area.

Waste 2 Watts (W2W)

Waste 2 Watts (W2W) is a sustainable energy start-up with a mission to build innovative products from recycled electronic waste to combat energy poverty in developing countries. Waste 2 Watts’ flagship product is the Enzi, which is a back-up power supply that can be used to power a wide range of electronic devices during a power outage. The Enzi is specifically designed to operate with superior performance characteristics to competitive products, but at a much lower price that is affordable for consumers in developing countries. Waste 2 Watts finished 3rd in the ‘Emerging Markets’ track of the 2011 MIT100K Business Plan Competition, and to date has won over $55k in prizes from competitions across the world. W2W will open a pilot operation in New Delhi, IN in July of 2012. This video highlights W2W’s pilot testing launch in Eastern Africa.
