Anani's Studio for Trailer Park Children
Organized by: Anani Sherwood
Forever, it has been Anani's wish to have her own Center for Creativity for Children. Something doable, something simple. She waited until the time when she had her very own home, which turned out to be a used rv trailer! In the trailer park in Boerne, TX where she lives the children have become fond of her and beg her to take them back to her little home to create something. Anani has pulled supplies from her storage bins to craft whimsically thought up ideas at the picnic table outside. Yet she dreams of something better, so that children can not only access the nature outside but have a modest shelter, protected from wind and rain, where many more tools and supplies can be easily accessed. Anani hopes that children will once again learn to use their hands with heart and brain, and feel inspired to explore, invent, design, and craft of their own inspiration. Children in trailer parks live in very small spaces, with very few materials at hand and even less working space.
With the $3000, Anani plans to purchase the perfect 8x10 garden shed with skylights! This will be the place where a few children at a time, can work together with Anani ! Costs also include paying two men to assemble it, the concrete blocks, the eight potted Juniper trees to place around the outside, soil and pots.
Anani has a long career working with children. She completed a Bachelors in Elementary Education 1980. She taught overseas in Ecuador and Bolivia in American Schools 1980-1984. She helped found an International School in Ganeshpuri, India 1985-1989.
