The 2nd Annual Flight for the Alcove Urban Race will take place on September 19, 2015 from 9am to Noon. This race will feature the Dallas Arts District as the backdrop, and will provide a glimpse into the city few have ever experienced! Through physical and mental challenges, participants will learn about the city of Dallas, Vogel Alcove, and how Flight YPO is moving the mission!
ABOUT VOGEL ALCOVE
Since 1987, Vogel Alcove has provided free quality child development services for Dallas’ youngest victims of poverty: homeless children 6 weeks to 12 years old. Vogel Alcove is the only free comprehensive early childhood education program in the city of Dallas whose primary focus is to provide free childcare and case management for children and their families residing at 18 local emergency shelters, domestic violence shelters and housing programs.
To provide the youngest children of homeless families with the foundation for success.
Every child in our community has a home, a self-sufficient family, and a pathway to success in school.
ABOUT FLIGHT YPO
Vogel Alcove’s Young Professional Organization, Flight YPO, is an affiliate arm of Vogel Alcove whose mission is to engage young professionals, create awareness in the community for the plight of homeless children, raise funds for Vogel Alcove and grow future leaders.
Created in 2013, Flight aims to be the premier Young Professional Organization in Dallas by providing its members the opportunity for networking with like-minded, career-driven individuals while uniting under a common thread of helping the homeless children and families of Vogel Alcove with the chance to succeed at life.
Unlike other Young Professional groups, Flight has the underlying element of service. The group will have many opportunities to work with the Vogel Alcove staff and interact with the homeless children the Alcove serves. This unique approach will include volunteer initiatives, fund raising events, donation drives and, of course, the chance to have a fun and rewarding experience while helping children in need.
