BENEFITING: ANDREW GOODMAN FOUNDATION
Take the Pledge to support the Future of Activism
Andrew "Andy" Goodman was 20 years old when he volunteered for "Freedom Summer," a project to register African-American voters in the deep south in 1964. Andy was a young, passionate activist who believed in doing what he could to encourage America to live up to it's promise of freedom, justice and equal opportunity for all people. On his first day in Mississippi, while returning from inspecting a church that had been fire-bombed, Andy and his two companions, James Chaney and Mickey Schwerner, were murdered. But Andy's story did not begin or end in 1964, Andy is a part of a tradition of activism in this country. The Andrew Goodman Foundation was established to continue Andy's legacy of social good and the American spirit of activism.
Today, The Andrew Goodman Foundation seeks to inspire, educate and recognize ordinary people who are taking extraordinary actions to address today's social, environmental and economic injustices. We are the spark of initiative and flame of progress.
