BENEFITING: Evidence Action
EVENT DATE: Apr 28, 2014
It's my birthday and I'm asking for $29 (yes, it's my age), or any amount you'd be willing to help to raise money for a non-profit I believe in called Evidence Action.
This charity is one of the few evidence-based charities out there. They base their work on rigorous experimentation and scale interventions to help the least among us. It's a guarantee that every dollar you raise will have a REAL impact.
I've kicked off the donations, so forgo buying me a beer and just donate that amount instead! I will be forever grateful for you helping make my birthday wish come true!
P.S. Here's a little more about the groundbreaking work Evidence Action and Innovations for Poverty Action are doing here: http://www.poverty-action.org/node/6031
Here's where the money will go:
Evidence Action assumes management and growth responsibility for two programs currently making a difference in the lives of millions of people in Africa and Asia:
1) Dispensers for Safe Water is an entrepreneurial program scaling the chlorine dispenser system – a proven innovation that dramatically expands access to water treatment at an extremely low cost. This year the program will reach over one million people in Africa providing safe drinking water to vulnerable populations.
2) The Deworm the World Initiative actively supports the scale-up of school-based deworming programs worldwide to improve children’s health, education, and long-term development. Free of intestinal worms, these children can concentrate better and get more out of schooling. We partner with governments to support their work, ensuring integration with other health and education initiatives and long-run financial sustainability for school-based deworming programs.
Evidence Action is a new organization working in partnership with an existing non-profit (Innovations for Poverty Action) to scale proven interventions to improve the lives of the poor in Africa and Asia. Evidence Action has applied for 501c3 status but in the meantime donations will be processed by our partner, Innovations for Poverty Action.
