BENEFITING: 3 LITTLE BIRDS 4 LIFE
On June 6 of 2013, six years after initial diagnosis, I was diagnosed with a regional breast cancer recurrence of my lymph nodes. An axcillary lymph node dissection surgery immediately followed to remove all remaining lymph nodes under my right arm. Chemotherapy begin on two weeks ago on July 12, 2013. There will be approximately 7 months of treatment that will include both chemotherapy and radiation.
I have to say after all of the above, I am more at peace now than I ever have been. God is good, I am still living, and I want to share joy with as many people that are interested in hearing about it!!
I discovered journaling through an organization named Caring Bridge. This site, www.caringbridge.org, allows me to publicly journal and share my journey as well as for supporters to leave messages for me offering their love and support.
I decided soon after recurrence that I wanted this cancer experience to be worthwhile and I committed myself to being DELIBERATE every day about choosing joy and happiness over fear or failure. It is slowly changing my life, and I have developed my own motto of "Making Cancer Beautiful" embracing my life as it has been dealt and now trying to encourage others to have strength, hope, and happiness. I believe in the power of choice and the power of the human spirit. I choose to be strong because my I make it the only option.
I choose to have hope because God is still in control
I choose to be happy because it is contagious with others and I deserve it!!
I am overwhelmed with the emotions that this cancer experience has allowed me to feel. Its not about having Stage 4 cancer, because cancer is not a life sentence until your journey comes to an end. Mine has just begun!!
