My son Adam is a brilliant 26 year old who has been battling the disease of addiction for over 10 years. As he was just getting his life moving in the right direction he was diagnosed with Lymphoma. To deal with the severe pain he was in his doctors prescribed pain killers which triggered his addiction. He is now dealing with beating both of these diseases at the same time. I have supported my children on my own, and unfortunately I no longer have the means to cover the significant out of pocket expenses, estimated at over $30,000, for the treatments Adam so desperately needs. We are attempting to raise as much as we can to cover the significant medical expenses associated with Adam’s treatments. His Lymphoma is curable if he is able to receive the treatments. His disease of addiction is a life long battle with no cure other than tremendous will power and support. Because of insurance issues, Adam must travel from his home town where he is in a rehab facility to St. Paul Minnesota to receive his cancer treatments until he is able to obtain insurance that will cover him in Missouri. Due to Adam’s history his premiums are excessively high as are his deductibles and co pays. While a portion of his cancer treatments are covered, he must pay his own travel and lodging expenses from St. Louis, Missouri to St. Paul. The cost of the rehab facility, which is one of the few facilities that will take Adam because of his cancer, is in excess of $15,000 per month, none of which is covered by insurance but a treatment that is desperately needed to help him with both the addiction and the cancer. Without treating both of these diseases he has no chance of survival. We are planning to do as many fundraising events as possible but Adam needs the help now and does not have the time to wait for what it takes to plan a physical event. Adam and all of his friends and family would appreciate any help you might be able to provide.
