BENEFITING: Mothers Against Drunk Driving
EVENT DATE: Sep 30, 2017
Our lives were changed forever on July 14, 1980. An important part of our family, Angie, was tragically killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. She was a passenger in a car that was hit when a drunk driver went speeding through a stop sign. At the time of the accident, we all had a difficult time understanding what was going on and why this senseless tradegy had to happen. It was difficult for us to accept that a person we loved, admired and looked up to was never coming home. As a familty, we have suffered through difficult times as a result of her death, but in the end, it has brought us closer together. We share a special bond that will never be broken. Throughout the last 37 years, we have often used the Serenity Prayer as a way to help navigate through these difficult times. "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." Although we wish we could bring Angie back, we know it is not possible. She is now "Our Guardian Angel!" We have learned to trust God and use this tragedy in positive ways. Every successful thing we do in life is dedicated to her memory. That is why we have decided to participate in the M.A.D.D. 5K Walk in Atlanta for the second consecutive year. We want to honor Angie's memory and raise money in hope of preventing other families from suffering through the horrific tragedy my family has gone through. Please consider suppporting us in this event!
